Last Month Proved That the World Hates You

Every June, the spirit of the age wants us to succumb to their anti-God propaganda. They call this time “pride month,” which is fitting, since “pride” is the worst of the seven deadly sins.

Unfortunately, there are plenty of weak or counterfeit Christians who willingly submitted to the culture’s pressure these past few weeks. They displayed the hijacked rainbow symbol as a sign of solidarity with sodomy and mental disorders.

Too many lukewarm, ignorant, or heretical Christians agree with the false mantra that “love is love.” They believe the 11th Commandment is “Thou shalt be nice” and so their objective is to never hurt a homosexual’s feelings. Therefore, during June (and probably throughout the other 11 months as well), they choose one of two actions to take. They either lay low and did not do or say anything that rebutted sexual decadence. Or they actively joined in with the secular world in supporting sexual immorality such as by attending a so-called pride parade or posting a rainbow flag on their social media account.

Our Lord expects us to act as authentic Catholics who refuse to do any of the above. We are not called to join the corrupt culture or bury our heads in the sand. Our call is to firmly and unashamedly resist the world. This means we will not go along with the opposition’s manufactured outrage that Biblical beliefs about sexual morality are so-called “hate-speech” or “homophobic.”

The World Is Wrong

What our generation calls the “culture,” Scripture and Jesus called “the world.” Both can be defined as the system of values and social norms that are institutionalized into a society. Unfortunately, the culture/world coordinates these norms into a rebellion against God by redefining what constitutes morality and immorality.

To encourage us to not let the culture/world manipulate us to turn away from Him, Christ made the following statement about experiencing animosity from secular society:

“If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you” (John 15:18-19).

The world tells us that our opinions must conform to the secular values of the age. The culture labels us as judgmental, close-minded extremists and shuns us to the point of being “canceled.” The people and groups who hate us formed and constantly mold modern society’s values. These people and groups are today’s sexual degenerates, immoral politicians, godless celebrities, propagandist media, and Marxist educational institutions.

The self-identified *LGBTQIA2S+ movement amplified their hatred toward us during so-called pride month. They loathed anyone who refused to bow to their idols and false gods of same-sex lust, hedonism, infatuation with one’s body, vainglory, and carnality.

*Note: LGBTQIA2S+ is the latest politically correct acronym used by the culture to describe people who don’t follow the original manner of sexuality as intended by God and who want to be categorized according to their sexual appetites. The only reason I use this elongated, seemingly infinite, reprobate term is purely to magnify its ridiculousness, similar to how absurd it is that what seems like every month a new flag is designed for the latest sexually debased behavior.

Their side literally shoved their beliefs in people’s faces throughout the month of June by riding naked on bikes or playing out their BDSM fetishes by acting as leashed animals in front of children. Contrastingly, our side displays compassion because we know many “gay pride” supporters are ignorant or weak as sheep. They are not strong enough to think for themselves and keep from getting corralled into the world’s debauchery.

It Is Not Compassionate to Submit to Someone’s Sins or Delusions

But compassion does not mean capitulating to their delusional thoughts or ignoring their fictional misrepresentations. Capitulating or ignoring would be misplaced-compassion, not true compassion. True compassion toward those engaging in sexually disordered acts and toward their supporters who endorse this immorality is to pray for their conversion. It is to inform them of the truth about this sinful lifestyle.

Compassion includes encouraging sinners to step off the wide path that leads to darkness and follow the narrow path which leads to the light of Christ. One is separating oneself from God when taking the counterfeit path of accepting or the lukewarm path of surrendering to the secular culture’s “truth.” The accepting-path separates oneself immediately. The surrendering-path course does so eventually by a slow drip-drip-drip.

Sexual degenerates, immoral politicians, godless celebrities, propagandist media, and Marxist educational institutions scream invented labels at authentic Christians, even though they call us the intolerant ones. Sadly, a next door neighbor, a fellow school parent, and/or a few relatives may likewise call us names. We need thick skin in these instances. We must calmly tell the opposition that we will never accept their lies. We also must never stop telling the truths that we know are correct and that society for thousands of years up until just the most current century also deemed correct.

These truths include:

  • there are no such things as “gay marriage” or “transgenderism”;
  • there are only two sexes and sex/gender is not “assigned at birth”;
  • human sexuality is a beautiful gift from God that He planned to be used solely by a man and woman married to each other and open to reproduction.

Parents Must Protect Their Children’s Souls

An adult Catholic who chooses to not cave to worldly temptations and who resists peer pressure of agreeing with the popular culture’s corruption is protecting one’s soul. But that is not enough. Even more vital, adults are role-models to their children. They cannot allow the world’s glorifying of homosexuality to tempt their children.

It is difficult for a parent to fight against the cultural indoctrination that might have already started taking over their kids’ minds. This indoctrination makes their youngsters conclude that it is less stressful to go along to get along with the world. Parents must assure their children that the presence of Our Lord will bring them encouragement and comfort. Turning to Jesus is a good counter to the persecution that will come when we live our lives counter-culturally as our faith expects but as the world detests.

Mom and dad might want to say something like this to their sons and daughters (in age-appropriate language):

“What the world offers is empty and hollow. You will not find fulfillment in following the spirit of the age but in following the teachings of Jesus Christ. If you really want to be fulfilled – not just in the coming years but in the after-life – you need to submit yourself to His Truths, which are everlasting and good. Do not submit to the lies and depravity of the pagan-like culture.”

Scripture Can Help Instruct

Taking a counter-cultural stand is challenging enough for adults but is extremely challenging for children. They will experience a lot of peer pressure, they will desire to fit in with the world, and the culture will wage a blitzkrieg of propaganda via the media and celebrity influencers.

As authentic Catholic adults, we have to work hard to help our young ones show fortitude when popular society labels our counter-cultural actions as strange, at best, and hateful, at worse. These actions include us not celebrating so-called pride-month, refusing to attend a so-called gay-wedding, and not going along with using one’s so-called preferred pronouns.

Parents might choose to sit down their sons and daughters and read together the following Scripture passages. These are discussion-starters about the dangers of being drawn into the world. They also point out the error of believing that happiness is found solely in satisfying one’s sexual desires.

In addition, parents can discuss the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 4:1-20). In this account, Jesus is saying that the lures of the world are tempting, but we must resist the urge to pursue worldly living that will choke the word of God within us. Moreover, Jesus is clarifying that if left unchecked our human passions can carry us away with the wind. Thus, we must live a life focusing on prayer and the Sacraments, lest we will not be able to defeat the evil one’s temptations.

Rejoice and Be Glad

As we faithful Catholics fight through the barrage of vileness coming from the culture – not just in June but also in July, August, September, etc. – we would do well to keep reminding ourselves that life is short. This world is passing away. We must keep our minds on valuing the things of Heaven more than the things of this world.

We should actually be concerned if we did not experience any form of adversity or animosity from society during so-called pride month because that means we are not living counter-culturally. If and when we Christians experience hatred by the world, we can find solace in realizing this makes us more like Christ Himself. He prepared us for this and offered us His strength to courageously endure it with joy when he said:

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:10-12).

In the end, all that matters is what our Lord thinks – and nothing else.

  1. Dear Dan,

    Once again, your remarkable depth of wisdom and eloquence have not only addressed but also alleviated the unease and anxiety I often feel in the face of the relentless and, at times, agonizing din that fills the air during Pride month.
